Geometry, functionality and innovative design is what comes to mind when you look at IMAGO-A, a New York-based handbag label designed by Yegang Yoo. This Parsons grad with an extensive background in apparel pattern making and an affinity to mix three dimensional shapes and sculptural silhouettes says she finds inspiration in architecture and product design. Just one look at her Tumblr page you can see how her extensive library can spark and epic scope of creativity.

With a minimal aesthetic and signatures like rich textures such as embossed and patterned leathers, the brand standouts for its timeless design with a modern point-of-view. The line covers every woman’s needs with a range of silhouettes and smart design details. From shoulder bags, clutches, totes and crossbody bags, there are options for those that want to carry just the essentials to those that need that space for more. Her mini Prism bag, one of the most popular styles is built with a three-dimensional design process and comes in purely bold colors and future-forward materials like the sculpted Italian holographic foil printed goat skin.

For this once ready-to-wear designer, the transition to handbags was natural. She says, “I took my patterns to a local bag-maker and immediately fell in love with bag making process, working with local craftsmen. I wanted to focus on the leather handbags which is quite different from clothing and the rest is history.”
