Fall is here and there are a pack of emerging designers bringing forward design into the marketplace. Our edit explores 6 designer labels making their mark around the world. These designers carry certain themes too. Modern design is at the forefront, pieces are thoughtful and meant for everyday use, whether that’s a powerful choker, perfectly blocked hat or a chic handbag. The need for quality and local manufacturing is also apparent. From New York, across the country and Bangkok, these entrepreneurs are ones-to-know.
S/H KOH, New York City
Santa Venetia, San Francisco/Bay Area
This Bay Area footwear label was founded by Raquel Bedard and Gemma Greenhill, two long time friends. Inspired by a pair of vintage sandals they saw at a Memorial Day party in 2017, they were struck with excitement on how they could bring their own vision to a line of shoes.
Just over a year old, Santa Venetia is a modern take on clogs, with an avant-vintage, style forward aesthetic. They’re calling the label wearable art taking cues from 70s cross stitch and the colors of rolling California landscapes to direct their styles.
Their approach is to reinvent a classic, footwear staple with a customizable angle. Customers get to select their heel height, upper pattern and color story for their own eclectically fun masterpiece. To-date, their best seller is the Sunday in poppy which is a no-brainer investment.
Sterling King, New York City
Sterling King describers her namesake contemporary and fine jewelry label as sculpture mixed with textures for street-ready statement pieces. A graduate of Parsons, a womenswear designer and retired professional ballet dancer, she attributes her attention to form and experience for the wearer from her non-traditional background. The brand’s chokers and cuffs are definitely striking to the eye with a bold, but playful feel. The large sculpted choker is just one example of this. For fall, she’s introducing fine pieces that are elevated in 18k with intricate diamond pavé layouts and embellishments.

Sonya Lee, Vancouver
Dreamy leather, clean lines and modern shapes are at the core of Sonya Lee. The Vancouver-based handbag and accessories label founded by Stephanie Sonya Ibbitson uses art, architecture and her affinity to contemporary norms to shape the way she created her fourteen-piece collection. The Maya cylinder bag, with vegetable tanned leather is a best-seller and works both as a top handle clutch or shoulder adornment. Of the moment and surely a long-standing piece is the Jess Belt Bag that can also work as a clutch. Made from vegetable tanned leather like the rest of the collection, allows for each piece to break in and reveal their organic shape.

La Jewelry, Bangok
The foundation of Sasivimol Chaidaroon’s jewelry label is a water droplet. The Bangkok-based designer has launched five collections that show the beauty of this natural resource as the hero of each piece. The concept came from her graduation project and is a constant experiment of water and light that has been transformed into a full range of dimensional earrings and necklaces. The beauty of the pieces is that when light shines through the jewelry at 42 degrees, a rainbow appears.
