Deborah Courtoy works off the less is more philosophy. Her contemporary line that launched earlier this year is simple, but has a pouf of energy that focuses on the bold and punchy color block trend that has been so appropriately embraced around the world. One-shoulders, jumpers and feminine cut blazers are the DNA of the line that was inspired by the British and Belgian influences she was exposed to while at school at Helmo Mode and Coventry University.
Now, her main focus is her couture collection that takes a twist on regular eveningwear. It all started after she graduated when she worked as an assistant designer for a bridal line and then came into her own. Her debut collection is romantic and elegant, and shows a bit of an edge through slightly provocative necklines, open backs and asymmetric hems and bodices. As she plays with chiffons, other light fabrics and leathers, she works to find balance in her designs and hopes that her pieces stand the test of time with those that want to stand out.
