Emerging handbag designer Louise O’Leary already has a signature with a story. A good one too. A Dublin native, always being close to nature, she developed a connection with animals. Living in the country, her neighbor offered her a set of antlers for the home and when her husband said no, she decided to put them on her handbags as an obviously fair compromise.
Her line, Louloubelle Bags which includes clutches, satchels, hobos and carryalls both with and without hardware is quickly growing with retailers in Ireland and London and is gaining traction in the U.S. Her Bebe and Lou Lou Berry bags are made with soft Italian Tuscan leather and are roomy enough for all essentials and include those recognizable handmade brass antlers.
Louise takes takes pride in the way she deveoped her line. After receiving her interior design degree in Ireland, she moved to Boston and studied fashion, then returning home. She began selling handmade accessories at boutiques but when the demand grew, she took a step back to focus on the production process to make sure the designs and quality matched at a larger scale.
For spring/summer 13, she is introducing the Me&Emmie collection, a limited edition run with her sister that is made up of a canvas totes and shoppers with durable leather straps with cheeky phrases that play on the word bag. With several clever combinations and color styles, there may just be one for every type of customer.
