Emerging Designer Spotlight: The Brooklyn Bakery

Rows of delicious colors and eye candy. That’s what Tanya Menendez and Matthew Burnett wanted to create when they started The Brooklyn Bakery, an emerging fashion accessory label inspired by the flavorful borough. The brand got it start when Matthew started designing Steel Cake watches, and shortly after, Tanya came on board to help balance Matthew’s creativity with her business sense (like any successful startup, they now do a bit of both).

As they started to gain traction in the the local market, they received special requests and began to deliver a fresh assortment of consumer-driven products. Now, the line consists of watches, leather bracelets, wallets, tech accessories and the most darling pet collars.

What sets The Brooklyn Bakery apart is their wide range of lifestyle accessories, stamped with their own signatures. They are stocked with colorful leathers that come in fun motifs like stripes, paisleys, and interesting prints such as their vivid Miami Vice  coin purse. Stocking traditional leathers for the business-minded customer to those that want a little more flair, they also have an assortment of textures that includes perforated leathers, fur and cool finishes, like their antique wash. In both cases, all accessories are made with durable, high-grade leathers that are individually hand cut and proudly made in New York and come finished with their cupcake seal of approval. And, like any good bakery, they will be rolling out with new products to keep you coming back for your own fix.
