A minimal aesthetic paired with a clever use of color on androgynous silhouettes is what Wai Yang chose to reveal in her debut collection. The Singapore-based designer graduated from London College of Fashion with a degree in Textile Design and what she wants to be known for as she build her label.
This season was inspired by artist Lucio Fontana’s concept of Spatialisim where you’ll see clear references in the sleeveless wool grey dress along with a baby blue skirt that offer the most intriguing detail. There’s also her version of basics like a white blouse and and classic shirting that features a screen print that can easily be paired with a boxy trouser or bottom. The hand techniques, which is one of her specialties are used on an oversized coat which shows foil details and a sweater with a flocking treatment.
For fall, Yang delivers garments for what she calls artful types, or those who can pull off stripes, no matter where there are placed, asymmetric layers and oversized garments with pure confidence.
