While trying to figure out her next step, Malak Atut knew that she wanted to create something beautiful. In the back of her mind, she thought that she would end up in the floral space, creating dynamic pieces of work. Little did she know that wearing the jewelry she designed for herself would spark the interest of others. Realizing that this was now the time for her voice to be heard, she created Zaiken Jewelry, named after her sons, Zain, meaning “object of beauty” and Kenz for “treasure.”
And, this notion of treasure is what embodies the Zaiken brand. Crafted in gold, silver and the highest quality of semi-precious stones, her fine jewelry line takes her Middle Eastern heritage and fuses it with Western elements seen through the eyes of New York’s cosmopolitan flair. Her pieces are not only sophisticated, but hold their own personality.
Zaiken’s signature is the spinning feature that is available in earrings, pendants and rings that allow for different materials or inscriptions on the front and back. You’ll see combinations like a diamond paired with a pink sapphire or 3 layers of metals combined to give movement to her calligraphy earrings. What’s apparent throughout is the distinct details that make her designs bold and timeless. With all pieces hand-crafted in New York, Zaiken jewelry is certainly a beautiful treasure.
The line is carried at Fred Segal and other specialty boutiques. Check out the entire collection at Zaiken Jewelry.
