In collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art’s exhibition, Items: Is Fashion Modern?Fashion is Kale, a one-day event on October 19, 2017 that seeks to spark conversation and perspectives from those who are often hidden in the fashion industry. Inspired by Fashion Is Spinach, a well-known book by Elizabeth Hawes published in 1938, panels will discuss how fashion items are designed, manufactured, discarded and worn. 

Guests will hear from brands, individuals and institutions including Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Steven Alan, Public School, Dario Calmese, Harbison, Yale, FIT, Fashion Law Institute, Material World and more.
