10 UK-Based Emerging Designers Selected as Semi-Finalists for Fashion Fringe

Miyoko Kamijo

Fashion Fringe, an annual contest developed to support emerging UK-based designers by Colin McDowell in partnership with IMG Fashion is well on its way. 10 Semi-Finalists have been selected by Christopher Bailey, CEO and founder of Burberry who is also the current project chair.

Designers were asked to submit sketches, swatches, costing figures and plans for running their fashion business to not only show their creative vision, but entrepreneurial spirit.

To get to the next round, these Semi-Finalists will participate in technical day where three designers will be selected by Bailey and McDowell. Throughout the summer, Finalists will work on their capsule collection at the Fashion Fringe studio at the London College of Fashion that will be presented during London Fashion Week in September. Winners will receive studio space at Somerset House, business coaching, mentoring and financial support. The culmination will be in 2013 when the winner will present their collection at their own show during London Fashion Week in February.
