For their fifth annual holiday pop-up, New York-based retailer Young & Able took over a Williamsburg, Brooklyn townhome. This year, their community-driven experience, rightfully named Open House (#YAopenhouse) supports 60 female-led Brands in Residence as a continued effort to support emerging designers and creative entrepreneurs. 

In partnership with Lonny Magazine, the space feels like a discovery zone. Their edit includes fashion, lifestyle, beauty and food categories including Brightland olive oil, Palermo Body skincare products,  Lillian Farag leather goods, Boyd’s of Texas fragrance, Round + Square scarves, Brian Giniewski ceramics, MAAARI accessories, Brooklyn Candle Studio and a collective of goods from The Brooklyn Shoe Space. 

Each area in the home has a designated name that shines the spotlight on their partners and brands. There’s the bedroom outfitted by Brooklinen sheets, The Plant Room, The Shelfie Station, The Gallery, and The Living Room by Campaign furniture

The brand also has a lineup of events including workshops and talks throughout November and December. 

This effort marks the five year anniversary for the brand. Founder Rosa Ng told us, “When I started this venture 5 years ago out of my apartment in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, I never imagined my online store would evolve into a offline pop-up retail known for empowering women-owned businesses and giving them a space to share their entrepreneurial journey, build brand awareness and slowly build a community one maker at a time.” Now, after activating 24 months of retail in total, she believes that what truly drives her is community.
