At this winter’s 2012 New York International Gift Fair, MEANING, an innovating jewelry label from the Netherlands made its debut. Selected by a juried group based on originality, contemporary design, innovative use of materials and functionality, MEANING was one of four labels to receive high honors and be a part of A+: The Young Designers Platform within Accent-On-Design.
Created by Ruti Stopnitzki, an award-winning graphic designer, her premier jewelry collection merges typography with sculptural design. She calls her work “type-centric design with meaning.” The collection features double sided and three-dimensional rings in a variety of styles and fabrications. One collection, inspired by fleurons, a typographic floral glyph and glorious sister to today’s modern day emoticon is constructed with a fabrication technique called laser sintering to create dynamic pieces. Rings come in various finishing including silver, stainless steel and polyamaid, a strong durable material which is hand-painted to create vivid colors and a splash of sophistication like her banana ring with set-in Swarovski crystals. Another family, a striking alphabet collection is cleverly engineered to show the hero letter on both the front and back of the ring, proving that MEANING brings type to life from all sides.
