New York Fashion Week Review: Suzanne Rae

Suzanne Rae Fashion Week Fall 2013 presentation
Suzanne Rae Fashion Week Fall 2013 presentation

Emerging-Designer-USA-Flag2Suzanne Rae always tells a meaningful story with each collection. This season, her inspiration came from those that praised a higher order. Monks, priests and nuns to be exact.

What’s clear is that she knows what’s she’s about: clothes with a minimal aesthetic that cater to the confident-cool woman who believes that less is more, and that good design always prevails.

Her presentation was about relaxed, clean silhouettes using ivory, cream, grey and black to set the tone. Wide leg trousers, drop waist and sheath dresses and blouses, some solid and others with prints were all in the mix. Standouts include the black and white panel dress and a rich in color rust coat that looked effortless to wear styled with slacks over a soft blush blouse.

Infusing more texture in the lineup came from knit pieces like the tweed sweatshirt and short combo that showed some leg. Her collaboration with knitwear designer Lindsay Degen, included a sweater and skirt pairing along with scarves and hats that fit in seamlessly.
