New York Fashion Week Spring 2013: Saunder

For her first time at New York Fashion Week, Emily Saunders went with a burst of playful sophistication combined with flirtatious sex appeal. Inspired by her childhood visits to a seaside town in England, she channeled her summer home beach memories into a tight, well-edited collection. Filled with a spectrum of sherbets: Sea Foam, Atomic Peach and Toxic Avenger Green to be exact, she clearly communicated her point-of-view. Soft and fluid dresses with cutouts, one-shoulders and midriff-baring pieces that turned up the edge came in silk and sueded charmeuse. We also saw polished looks like jewel neckline jackets in bold colors, still keeping it casual. Sprinkled in were lightweight gauze pants and Burnt Gold lamé touches in tops and a Grecian inspired dress. There’s no doubt that the Saunder girl could happily frolic in the countryside or punctuate the city streets with her own irreverent flair.
