Lets face it, running a fashion business is no easy feat. From design, production, sales, marketing and financials, you’ve got your hands full. The good thing is that the New York fashion community has created an initiative for young designers that are ready to develop their fashion brand.
The Design Entrepreneurs Program, created by the Fashion Institute of Technology and the New York City Economic Development Corporation is a free, intensive “mini-MBA” program for designers selected to participate.
The curriculum focuses on marketing, operations and financial skills that are needed to run a successful fashion business. Designers will also be able to develop and refine their business plan, network with industry’s leaders and present their brand to key fashion stakeholders at the end of the program.
Designers that have been in business for at least a year, garnered press, sales and are based in New York are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is March 31, but designers will be selected on a rolling basis and should submit their applications early. Interviews will be held in April and May and approximately 35 designers will be selected. Classes begin June 1st and are will take place during the weekends until September.
If you think you have what it takes and ready to make your mark in the fashion design community, apply now to the Design Entrepreneurs NYC program.
