Each season Emily Saunders takes us deep into a storyline. For fall/winter, “The Singing Detective” a 1980s BBC mini series was manifested through the looks, models and set decor which included a sultry film Noir-inspired detective with a cigarette in mouth and decanters of liquor set at his desk.
The mood was romantic, mysterious and mixed with pop art references. To seamlessly play the part, she continued her collaboration with with Megan Isaacs for jewelry that lifted elements from pieces like her smoke dress and tank along with the designers own playful touches.
The first look was a fitted brocade blazer and trousers with a sleek gold lapel that was pulled together by the perfectly coifed hair of her femme fatale. She continued with silhouettes in leopard brocades that included options for both fun and sexy days. And, on trend for fall, there were gorgeous velvets shown on a full length dark maroon gown with a side slit and a short plunging key hole dress. Moving into outwear, Saunders turned it up with a copper moto jacket with fur trim and a silver fox shrug that could easily turn into necessities. As a whole, the collection was a little rebellious, a little luxurious and a little fun and precisely why the gold fringe dress was a knockout.
