FIT Design Entrepreneurs, the “mini-MBA” program for emerging designers from Fashion Institute of Technology has announced an open call for their 2019 class. The program, now in its seventh year is open to businesses globally that can commit to the required curriculum at FIT.
Each year, FIT and a panel of industry names select 25 designers to embark on a 5 month program that includes curriculum in branding and marketing, operations and financials along with mentorship, supplementary classes at FIT, a pitch workshop and networking events.
Designers will be required to submit a business plan to complete the program and the top 12 plans will pitch for a chance to win $100,000 and $50,000. Last year, there was a tie and Ariana Boussard-Reifel and Thistle & Spire won the grand prize.
- The program is open to designers globally as long as they can commit weekend intensives and any other required days
- Fashion design categories include, but are not limited to women’s wear, menswear, children’s wear, accessories and jewelry
- Business should have been in business at least one year
- Companies should have sales and press
