Open Call: Chicago Fashion Incubator at Macy’s is Looking for Emerging Designers

Ready to build your fashion brand with the knowledge and support of industry experts? If so, you should apply to the Chicago Fashion Incubator at Macy’s on Street Street. The open call is for emerging designers that want to participate in their 2013/2014 Designers in Residence program.

This one-year incubator will provide six designers with access to a dedicated work and office space, a mentor, a solid curriculum which includes seminars and workshops on topics such as product development, marketing, sales and many other vital areas that are needed to sustain a business. At the end of the year, designers will not only graduate form the program with a stronger collection, but will also walk away with the tools to grow their fashion company.

Some of the requirements include:

  • Designers must reside in the Chicagoland area – which includes the following counties: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will.
  • Submit photos of at least 3 garments with the application and be able to present these garments if selected for an interview.
  • Either plan to start, or have already started, a fashion business in the City of Chicago.
  • Be able to commit to CFI completely, utilizing all available resources, similar to a full-time job.

Learn more about the Chicago Fashion Incubator and apply to the program by November 27. If you have questions about the program, email applications@chicagofashionincubator.org.
