The New York International Gift Fair, the semi-annual trade show that focuses on gift, home and lifestyle products is looking for emerging designers in two of their divisions. If you design apparel, handbags, accessories or small leather goods, check out the criteria for these two opportunities to present your work during their February 2013 show at the Javits Center.
1. A +: The Young Designers’ Platform – design students, recent graduates and companies in business one year or less
The A+: Young Designers’ Platform is a part of their Accent on Design
division. This opportunity gives new designers in business one year or less, with a focus on contemporary design to show their work to the wholesale marketplace and also get learnings on their brand. A selection committee will base their decisions on design concept, creativity and originality. Retailers that typically attend the show include Fred Segal, Neiman Marcus and Vivre.com.
2. Emerging Designer Maker Platform – handmade products by designers in business one year or less
The Emerging Designer Maker Platform is a part of the Handmade Designer Maker
division and was created to provide exposure to emerging designers that have been in business one year or less with a focus on hand crafted products such as apparel, handbags, accessories and small leather goods in addition to a variety of other product categories. The selection committee will choose winners based on design concept, creativity and originality. Retailers that typically attend the show include MoMa, Smithsonian and Anthropologie.
