Macy’s is looking for a new class of emerging designers for their exclusive The Workshop at Macy’s Program. This open call is for U.S.-based minority and woman-owned companies that have been in business for at least two years and are ready to sell their goods in a mass retail environment. The workshop is a free, 4-day program designed to give entrepreneurs the tools to sustain growth and thrive in the retail industry.
Alumni of the program have come from a wide range of categories such as apparel, beauty, home and food and include brands such as Kara Janx, the Andean Collection, Urban Intimates Lingerie, Black Dinah Chocolatiers and Robin Wilson Home.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be the majority owner or co-owner of a business that has been in operation for at least 2 consecutive years
- A legal U.S. resident, residing in the United States, who is either a woman or of Black, Hispanic, Native American, Asian-Indian or Asian-Pacific descent
- 21 years or older
- Operate an established U.S.-based business that produces goods that can be sold in a department store
- Travel to New York City to participate in the program
