Open Call: West Elm Local’s $25,000 Small Business Grant and Portfolio Reviews

West Elm Local Small Business Grant

West Elm is continuing their support of local makers and designers with their latest initiative. This fall, they will give one winner a $25,000 small business grant and three finalists will have the opportunity to be a part of their latest assortment. 

Since 2013, the retailer has been focusing on strengthen the community and by year end hopes to have LOCAL merchandise in 23 of their locations which would include wares from over 200 entrepreneurs across the United States. Currently, they carry a variety of categories including home, jewelry, beauty and stationary.

How it Works

  • 8/12-8/9: Makers and designers submit their work
  • 9/10-9/29: Finalist will be chosen based on design, originality, story commitment to local production and product assortment
  • 9/30-10/14: Public votes for their favorites and winners will be announced on 10/14

They are also doing portfolio reviews at 5 stores across the country on August 16, 2014. These locations include:   New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, Dallas and Seattle stores. Appointments are limited and you must call your local store to RSVP.
