Pantone Color of the Year Emerald

Pantone Announces Emerald as 2013 Color of the Year

Emerald Pantone Color of the Year

US Designers“A lively, radiant, lush green.” That’s how Pantone describes Emerald 17-5641, their Color of the Year for 2013.

The color, typically seen in precious gemstones is luxurious and sophisticated and also the color of prosperity. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute says that “green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum.”

For fashion brands, emerald has been a mainstay on the runways, red carpet and can live in both formal and casual apparel and accessories for both men and women. Pantone believes the color will last throughout the seasons because of its ability to transform a look, but also to re-energinze by enhancing all colors in the spectrum. For their 2013 color report, various fashion influencers including emerging designer Emily Saunders spoke about which spring colors are popular in her collection and what color means to them.
