As an emerging designer, you’re going to have to get comfortable with selling your products and one of the best ways to do this is to show them in action. Offering different ways to style your pieces helps your customers understand how they can be worn and may help them validate their purchase. Plus, as a designer, you have a vision for each piece and it’s important to make that vision known.
Video is a great tool because it shows your product in situation, moving and can also bring out the personality of your brand. For fall, Holt Renfrew created a short video on 10 ways to style a scarf. It was simple, fun, inspirational and informative. They also posted 15 seconds of that video on Instagram.
With mobile devices, the video feature on Instagram or Vine, it’s now easy to make short videos at little to zero cost. And, it’s your opportunity to be creative and have fun with your products.
Just remember that when you create content and push it out, it’s also important to engage with your customer and get their point-of-view on your brand. Holt Renfrew encouraged consumers to use their Twitter and Instagram handle @HoltRenfrew while also using hashtag #ScarfSeason as a way to join the conversation.
