Summer Fridays with Melanie Mueller of Mel Boteri

 Mel-Boteri-Summer-Fridays

For our final summer Fridays feature, we’re talking to Atlanta-based handbag designer Melanie Mueller of Mel Boteri.  She takes us into her world and tells us about her favorite things, her special treat and what’s new for fall and beyond.

What’s your favorite summer Mel Boteri piece and how do you wear it?

It’s tough to pick just one, but I’ll have to go with the black & white Amber. With a detachable wristlet and cross-body strap, the versatility of this bag makes it easy to wear no matter the occasion. Its compact size made it an easy bag to pack, so it traveled quite a bit with me this summer.

What’s your favorite summer food?

A ripe watermelon, for its beautiful, saturated colors and sweet juicy taste!

And your favorite summer drink?

A chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc. This was me enjoying a glass in Charleston over the summer:

Favorite local spot?

With amazing restaurants, live music, quaint shops, and a great crowd, Canton Street in Historic Roswell has a great vibe no matter if I’m in the mood for a quick drink or full-course meal.

Where do you go to relax?

Luckily I don’t have to go too far. I have a masseuse who comes to me, which is a newfound luxury I use to reward myself. Fighting traffic after a relaxing session defeats the purpose, so an in-home massage just makes sense!

What’s your summer inspiration?

The colors, sounds, and relaxed vibe of the beach inspired this new Summer tote which will be part of my handbag collection for next year:

What’s your favorite summer song?

I love Mariah Carey’s new song “#Beautiful” featuring Miguel.

What’s next?

We have quite a few things in the works! Between now and early 2014 we will be launching a line of exotic leather and semi-precious stone handbags, an e-book on “The 7 Secrets to Handbag Shopping” and a new digital experience bringing our customization process to the online world.
