His shoes have been a mainstay in global fashion throughout the decades and holds the rank as one of the most famous luxury shoemakers. Manolo Blahnik has touched celebrities, shoe aficionados and even became a household name via Carrie Bradshaw’s lust for the brand in Sex and The City.
This fall, director and fashion journalist Michael Roberts will debut his new documentary titled Manolo. The never before seen in-depth documentary shows Blahnik’s commitment to the craft and features industry names including including Anna Wintour, André Leon Talley, Rhianna, Karlie Kloss, Iman and others sharing the impact of his shoes.
Blahnik, a humble, quiet man that has a career that has spanned 45 years describes the film as:
Although I am never completely relaxed and comfortable when a camera is hovering in the vicinity – I have managed to adjust. I am very happy with the documentary, the images are exquisite and they represent real glimpses of my life; designing shoes, long periods of working the manufactures, or enjoying the tranquility of an English country garden.
