As your business grows, there will be a lot of people that touch your company. This may include employees and interns, a one-time service provider or long-term vendors that you want to build relationships with like a factory, showroom or pr agency. These relationships and the time and dollars spent for their services are just a few reasons why it’s important to establish a solid foundation from the start.
Entering a new relationship is exciting and often times moves quickly. However, it’s important to take a step back and define the role of the business agreement and clearly communicate expectations. This is especially important because when things don’t go right or there is miscommunication, it’s easy to blame others and also look at something in retrospect.

Ask yourself these questions:
1. What is the role of the relationship and what goals need to be set?
2. What is the expectation for working together?
3. Is it achievable?
4. Is everyone on the same page?
In the end, it’s better to be proactive about a situation rather than to think about something in hindsight. Plus, you’ll be working with people that are aligned with your goals which is one step towards maintaining a healthy business.
