Williams Handmade, A Bright Young Thing Inside Selfridges

Williams Handmade at Selfridges

Bright Young Things. That’s one name that Sarah Williams can add to her accomplishments. This fall, the London-based designer who focuses on hand crafted luggage and bespoke pieces has been awarded with the honor by Selfridges.

In its third year, the Bright Young Things program gives 15 new emerging designers a window to display their work at their Oxford street store. Participants also get to sell online, host in-store trunk shows and demonstrations as well as other promotional opportunities such as videos and marketing support.

With a few months to prepare the display and two nights to install it, Sarah calls it a “very surreal and exciting experience” For her, the opportunity was invaluable because she was able to see how different departments worked together and also met other designers that had the chance to shape their own window and build their brand.

Sarah’s using this showcase to introduce her spring collection titled 1985, a throwback to her childhood days when movies like Back to the Future reigned supreme. Combining strong shapes and sharp colors like fuchsia, taupe, navy and mustard in six pieces, her upcoming season is striking and built to last.
