24 Days of Emerging Designers: I Waited For You
The name of Charleston Pacius and Melanese Reid's label I Waited For You is rightful apropos. After having their own labels and working for others to learn the business and focus on their areas of expertise: patternmaking, textiles and construction, they decided to come together to build a brand. Now, they are three seasons into their interpretation of clothes suited for the woman that appreciates design with personality and feels the need to disrupt from conformity, while still looking good in everyday pieces. They describe her as "eclectic with a killer sense of herself and showcases that through her personal style."
Their spring 14 collection titled Waterlust was inspired by the shapes of the ocean and tones of flowers in shades of blue and rose. Turning their nautical visions into wearable, clever color blocked silhouettes, the season's direction is strong and clear. You'll see head-turning pieces like the long sleeveless ombre gown and the shirt dress with deep pockets. The pants, with their split plant leg design can't be missed either. Made from a variety of silks, cotton twills and perforated leather for transitional days, they have paired the collection just right.
