24 Days of Emerging Designers: Lacquer Embassy
A penchant to be gentlemanly, a focus on design and a global perspective are some of the ways to describe Lacquer Embassy. Founded by Nikhil Sharma, the India-based menswear line focuses on shirts and pocket squares. Combining classical influences with modern culture, the brand is about minimal, clean silhouettes. You can see this not only on products, but graphics and packaging which is certainly helping to build the brand. From designer, to stylist and forecaster, Nikhil tells us that Lacquer Embassy was "born out of a desire to realize the aesthetics I have cultivated throughout my travels, life experiences, and my own experiments in style." Now, he's building dreams for his jet setting man.
The collection focuses on prints and graphics that are subtle and refined. Each piece has a lux-cool feel and tells a story. The Laneway is designed with geometric shapes and bold, fresh colors, while the Tuscan focuses on clean lines and petite shapes. To add in a bit of branding, the Deckhouse shows a harmonious play between the label's initials, clean layouts and good design.
For shirts, there's something for everyone; the simple tailored gingham is a staple and the the top hat and dog print are for those that want to show more character. What's special about the brand is that it adds the right amount of diversity in a man's wardrobe and keeps him looking sharp and worldly.
