24 Days of Emerging Designers: Mic & Kic
Mic & Kic: classic, refined pieces with a modern edge. That's the DNA of Mike and Kate Wanenmacher's new LA-based brand. Born out of a need to cater to the man that wants basics that he can live in that also ups the ante on style and sophistication, Mike started the brand after spending years in the industry. With a degree in apparel manufacturing, styling for Hollywood films and working in sales, his vision became clear after touching all sides of the business. Add in Kate, with a knack for art direction, entertainment production and styling too, not only do you get the complementing piece to make the magic, but two siblings that like the name alludes, that you would want to hang with.
For spring, you'll see core foundations that every man needs: the Kill slacks, Captain oxford, Lightening polo and Venture raglan which covers your dressed up casual looks to the relaxed. They also made sure to add their own takes on traditional styles with updated fits like the one-tone Western shirt remixed with their less is more philosophy. For those men and women that understand the luxury of having a good pajama-inspired piece, the dreamy Twilight silk shirt has all the fine details with the softest touch. To top it off, their Midnight jacket in burgundy suede is what Mikes says is "a piece that comes to life the longer you wear it" and looks like it could be the start to a new made in America signature.
