Collina Strada Spring/Summer 2016 at MADE
Each season, designer Hillary Taymor of Collina Strada shows us how to do minimalism well through collections that evoke a sense of ease, style and a nonchalant demeanor. This time around, a tri-color palette and essential silhouettes were reshaped, the theme for spring that was presented at MADE.
With this collection, I wanted a change in fabrications and focus on inventive shapes for your everyday wardrobe.
She focuses on a tight selection of fabrics including linen, leather and denim which will lend itself to layering and effortless pairings with one another. Soft leathers came to life in crop tops, what looks like the making of that quintessential tried-and-true jacket and a bra and thong combo that seems to have become a regular mainstay to the line. She also brought back the el morro dress, this time longer shown in black leather, a metallic blush and storm linen. On the stronger side, both literally and figuratively, the durable bull denim and canvas pieces worked well with raw edges, denim on denim top and bottom combos along with an unbelievable jumpsuit.
