Emerging Designer Spotlight: Heidi Roland

Long before the bustling feather trend, Heidi Roland was creating beautiful earrings and necklaces that not only made a colorful statement, but helped women capture who they are. A native of Philadelphia and photographer by trade, Heidi started creating jewelry with her own photos and then transitioned into other materials. As her popularity grew, she was able to hone in on a line with feathers and leathers as the hero. Heidi takes a conscious outlook on developing her brand and seeks out materials that are special to her and also local. She sources upcycled feathers and uses hand-cut deer skin from a friend for many of her pieces. Recently, she began incorporating seed bead earrings made by two members of the Cherokee and Pomo nations to the line as they became a source of inspiration. This season, Heidi makes a splash with a beautiful and vivid collection that includes peacock feathers, deer skin tassels, leather fringe and most importantly, pieces that make you feel good.
