Global Open Call: 2019 Redress Design Award
Redress, the Hong Kong-based NGO whose mission is to reduce textile waste in the fashion industry has announced their global open call for the 2019 Redress Design Award for emerging designers.
As the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition, Redress gives designers the opportunity to dive into the field of sustainability with life-changing opportunities. Participants will be challenged to re-design fashion by thinking through the lens of circular fashion in a way that values directional design and technical innovation.
On April 17, 2019, 30 semi-finalists will be chosen and promoted throughout the Redress media channels in addition to other prizes. On May15, 2019, 10 finalists will be selected to move onto the next round which includes an all expenses paid trip to Hong Kong, a photoshoot, press, participation in HKTDC, Hong Kong’s Fashion Week CENTRESTAGE, be featured in their Frontline Fashion documentary in addition to other prizes.
There are a variety of prizes for 30 semi-finalists to the first prize winner. They main ones include:
First prize with JNBY Group: Join the design team in China to work on a sustainable collection for retail
Second prize: A tailored mentorship with Orsola de Castro, Fashion Designer, Cofounder of Estethica & Co-founder of Fashion Revolution
Hong Kong Best: A guaranteed a place in the Grand Final of the Redress Design Award 2019
Must be 18 years or older
Open to menswear, womenswear and gender neutral apparel brands.
Have less than three years of professional fashion design experience and/or are a fashion student in any year at an educational institute at the time of application
