Open Call: Design Entrepreneurs NYC is Recruiting for the 2016 Class with $150,000 in Prizes
Design Entrepreneurs NYC, the free mini-MBA program for emerging designers designers that want to scale their business developed by FIT with support of the NYCEDC has announced an open call for their 2016 class. Now in its fifth year, the program accepts designers that have shown traction in the industry: press, sales and recognition to help them scale their business. 25 applicants are chosen and given a mentor, FIT resources and must participate in weekend intensive sessions on marketing, business operations and financials.
The deliverable is to submit a business plan in order to compete for a total of $150,000. Last year, menswear label Cadet won first place and Haus Alkire came in second. Alumni of the program include Chromat, Wwake, Eckhaus Latta, Azede Jean Pierre, Nikki Chasin, Title of Work, Upstate, Yestadt Millinery, Mimi Plange and over 80 other New York-based brands.
Emerging designers in women’s wear, menswear, children’s wear, intimate apparel, accessories, and jewelry whose businesses are based in one of New York City’s five boroughs and have been open for at least one year are eligible.
