Emerging Designer Spotlight: Lou.Earl

Lou.Earl Shoes

Laura Unruh makes footwear for the modern, confident babe. Think clean, contemporary and elevated. Her label, Lou.Earl, a Los Angles-based line of footwear is quickly gaining a following with the locals. Her tumbled leather slides and oxfords are reminiscent of classic silhouettes, but come to life in a trend-driven way.  They exude softness and comfort and are easy with a pair of jeans, relaxed with slacks and could add personality to anything formal.

To get here, she studied apparel and worked in the footwear industry for over 14 years for a variety of brands including Toms, Nine West, Guess, Nordstrom and high-end Italian brands.   She complimented her professional experience with learning from top shoemaking resources and to understand the business from a craftsmanship perspective.

Fast forward to her second season, she keeps a tight edit of styles and takes a hands on approach with her makers.  She says, “I love problem-solving and being faced with technical challenges. Working in footwear, that means precise attention to every millimeter.”

I really wanted to create a slightly bold timeless piece that could be a continuous style in my collection and in the closets of women who wear them.
