Marvelous designer, an automated method of digital clothing design that allows you to implement various principles of planar and three-dimensional construction of patterns and sketches. A program for 3-dimensional modeling and animation of clothes that allows you to create fashion collections and textiles of varying complexity from scratch. This design makes it possible to make industrial clothing samples, which can be modified in real time. All products can be immediately designed and tried on a virtual human model.

Course program

Introduction to the program

  • Program interface. Menu bar. How to open an avatar. 3D, 2D windows. How to move in the scene with the mouse. Gizmo. Library. History. Modular configurations.
  • Creating and editing shapes, lines, darts. How to create, change the degree of curvature. Editing a curve point. How to divide a segment at a specific distance, evenly, or by specifying the length or number of segments. How to move a point or line. Convert an internal shape to a hole and vice versa.
  • Building a basic dress. Cloning a pattern, symmetry. setting up a pattern by points. Sewing, editing seams, merging parts. Simulation. Restoring the position of a fallen part. How to save the project.

Tools of 2D and 3D windows

  • 2D: notching, seam allowances, checking the convergence of parts, measuring point on the pattern, annotation, folds, seam reinforcement, stitching, layers of clothing.
  • 3D: Pin freezing of polygons, what is a polygon, marking on the avatar and on the fabric. How to fold a pattern in half, edging, hemming.

Working with an avatar

Measuring the size of the avatar, editing, saving the modified avatar. Create a mark on the fabric (pin). How to attach pins to the model and remove them from it. Removing pins. Posing, motion animation of the avatar.

Display windows

  • Show/hide: inside lines, baselines, threads, stitching, pins, button, edging, position points, joints, measurements, 3D pens, rulers, guides.
  • Customize the look of the fabric/avatar: monochrome surface, textured, polygonal, fabric fit maps
  • How to insert a picture with a pattern, how to import patterns from CAD

How to work with fabrics

Detailing of the fabric. The color of the fabric. Adding patterns to the fabric. Setting the fabric thickness for simulation. Physical properties of the fabric. Overlaying prints. What are the fabric presets and their properties; How to customize the properties of stretch, bending, cushioning, density, friction, etc. Add graphics.

Rendering materials

Setting up materials that are displayed only in the render window: fur, glass, glitter.
How to insert lace, how to make an embossed pattern, embossing effect. Drawstring, fabric elasticity, seam reinforcement, deactivate/activate patterns, freeze a pattern.
