Open Call: MoMa Design Store is Looking for New York City Designers

In another salute to New York talent, the MoMa Design Store has announced its open call for their 2013 product collection. Looking to support fresh labels with good design, the submission process calls on brands with an innovative, contemporary aesthetic to represent the creativity taking place in New York City. The museum’s store is looking to build a product assortment from 75 designers to be sold in-store and online as a MoMa exclusive for a limited period of time. They are seeking a variety of accessory items including: bags, jewelry, scarves, wallets and pouches. Other categories include: home, children’s toys and games, paper goods, furniture and books.

Some of the requirements include:

  • Designers must live and work in New York City’s 5 boroughs
  • Products should hit a wholesale price point of $35 (a select few could be at $75)
  • Items must already be made or be going into production
  • Manufactured in the United States

The deadline is June 30 and the multiphase selection process will take place over the next few months. Check out their current product offerings at the MoMa Design Store and to learn about all the requirements and complete details, visit their Facebook page.
