Emerging Designer Spotlight: Michelle Vale

Handbag designer Michelle Vale is not just a designer, but a strong proponent of Make it in Manhattan, which is also the name of her blog that lives on her recently revamped e-commerce site. As part of her commitment to sustaining the local fashion industry, she’s giving $50 from every sale through the end of August to Save The Garment Center, the trade association that was created to promote New York’s Garment District.

Her line, exclusively made in New York City allows her to oversee the production process and ensure high quality pieces for her luxury-driven customer. Her totes, clutches and convertibles rise to the top this season and are available in rich leathers, exotic skins that come in an array of lush colors and sophisticated silhouettes. Pieces like the Ramone, a 3-in-1 convertible can be worn as a crossbody, clutch or shoulder bag and the Balance comes in linen, perfect for the summer. And, one of her signatures, her hardware components that come in gold and silver, allow her woman to accessorize in several different ways; one testament to a well-designed handbag line.

Check out the entire collection at Michelle Vale and various stores, including Intermix this season.
